Stoneleigh Rally presents Virtual Rally Relay

This is the third Virtual Rally Relay Show we have run now. Stoneleigh Rally always take donations for Crisis at our Christmas Party in support of the work they do to alleviate homelessness throughout the year and so it was fitting to extend this to our Festive Relay.

We always love a good theme and in line with the festive season we went with Santa's Workshop. In the Level 1 to 5 class Buddy the Elf needed help with a final Stocking Filler. This course was designed to fit into anywhere be it the living room, a kitchen or even a hallway. Rudolph was preparing for his Christmas Eve flight and, although space was a consideration, this course was designed to a more traditional size. Finally, in our Fun Class Santa was auditioning for his helpers.

We love how the Rally Community have embraced online competition and the dedication to filming whether it is tipping it down or snowing.

Our timing with this show was not good with some of the worse rainfall ever combined with a worrying escalation of the Covid-19 situation. The show opened as the Lockdown 2 eased into the Tier system in England but all of the UK was back in lockdown by the closing date. We thank everyone that entered in these difficult times and hope that the show bought you some festive joy and relief. We are also grateful for those that sent donations for our chosen charity.

The successful teams in all classes have kindly agreed to share their rounds which can be viewed here.

Class One - Buddy's Stocking Filler

Judge, Rachel Bradley

It was lovely to see how you embraced the "fits anywhere" nature of this class. Generally, the exercises were performed well with the successful teams demonstrating a good flow through the exercises. Training tips for 2021 would be to film yourself and then look to fade your cues and signals and also to work on moving through your turns rather than pausing midway - most points were lost for these. There were some layout errors and cameras in the wrong place but, as it was Christmas, we forfeited these. Results for the Buddy's Stocking Filler class

Class Two - Rudolph's Flight

Judge, Sally Sanford

Overall, super Rally, some very Christmassy outfits & decorations, well done to all the teams taking part - having fun over the festive season & helping raise money for the very worthwhile cause "Crisis". There were some wonderful happy dogs, wagging tails, enjoying rally funtime with their handlers. Some people were throwing marks away - on silly things, exercise details, and some could have been avoided through liaising with team members. Results for the Rudolph's Flight class

Class Three - Santa's Helpers

Judge, Claire Price

Thank you to the teams that entered this class, you really entered in the spirit of it. I couldn't help but smile at the fun you were all having but there were also some excellent Rally performances. The Scallywags blew me away with their attention to detail - especially their literal interpretation of Festive Spirit. The "Elf and Safety" vest was inspired! The standard was very high with good costumes and props and Rally work from all teams. I had set some very unconventional bonuses and you all surpassed my high expectations!
